South Road Farm comfortably hosts up to 150 guests for ceremonies and receptions, with space for dining, dancing, and celebrating both indoors and out — across two barns, the courtyard, and the surrounding grounds.
How long is the weekend rental?
The property is yours from Friday afternoon through Sunday at noon. That includes time to arrive, set up, rehearse, celebrate, and wind down without feeling rushed at any point. Sunday morning is part of every booking, not an add-on.
Can we choose our own vendors?
Yes. You're free to choose your own caterer, bar service, photographer, florist, and entertainment. We do require a licensed and insured bar service to handle alcohol, and a professional wedding planner or day-of coordinator.
Is shuttle service required?
Yes — on-site parking accommodates approximately 50 vehicles, so for larger guest lists a shuttle is required. Most couples arrange shuttles from a central hotel block in Augusta. We're happy to share vendor recommendations.
Is the farmhouse included in the rental price?
Yes. The farmhouse is included in every weekend rental at no additional charge. It sleeps up to 10 guests across four bedrooms and is part of the weekend package.

How do guests get to Fayette, Maine?
Most guests drive. From Portland it's about an hour, from Boston about three hours. Guests flying in typically land at Portland International Jetport (PWM) and rent a car for the hour drive north. We provide detailed directions to all guests, and many couples arrange shuttle service from hotels in Augusta, which is 30 minutes away.
Is South Road Farm a good option if we were considering a wedding abroad?
Many of our couples initially looked at international venues and shifted to a domestic destination for practical reasons — guest attendance, travel costs, and the logistics of planning from a distance. South Road Farm offers the same getaway quality — a full weekend, a private property, a place that feels genuinely remote — without the barriers that keep people from showing up.
Can the whole wedding party stay on-site?
The farmhouse sleeps up to 10 guests and is included in every weekend rental. Most couples house the wedding party or immediate family there. Additional guests stay in Augusta (30 minutes) or at Airbnbs and inns in the surrounding lakes region — we provide a lodging guide during planning.
About the farm
South Road Farm has been on this land since 1793. The post-and-beam barns went up in the early 1800s. The property ran as a working farm continuously until 2018 — longer than Maine has been a state. What you see now is the result of several years of restoration work done largely by hand by Dave, a lifelong carpenter and co-owner of the property.
